Elevating Your Dental Health: The Benefits of a Sinus Lift Procedure
In the back part of the upper jaw, the maxillary sinus cavity is located just beyond the jawbone. Often, this cavity is so large that there isn’t enough bone to securely place dental implants. In such cases, a sinus graft may be recommended.
Similar to bone grafting, a sinus graft involves surgically applying donor tissue to enhance the existing bone structure. Depending on your needs, this procedure may be done either simultaneously with implant placement or as a separate preliminary step, allowing time for the graft to heal before implants are placed. In both scenarios, sinus grafting provides sufficient strong bone in the upper jaw to securely anchor dental implants.
