Strengthening Your Teeth with Fluoride Treatments
At our practice, we provide fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay. The ADA recommends fluoride for infants and children between 6 months and 16 years as their primary and permanent teeth are developing. We apply fluoride in a varnish form using a brush, which strengthens teeth against decay-causing plaque and sugars, speeds up re-mineralization, and helps disrupt acid erosion. Besides office treatments, fluoride can also be applied through fluoridated toothpaste and mouth rinses. Over-the-counter mouth rinses contain lower fluoride concentrations, while stronger rinses may be prescribed if needed. Our dentist will guide you on the appropriate fluoride needs for your child.
